The Eagles need to add some depth behind Brian Westbrook and start looking for his successor. Knowshon Moreno is a perfect fit for the Eagles offense and could contribute immediately. The Eagles don’t love taking running backs early, but with very few on the roster right now, it might be inevitable.
22
Minnesota Vikings
Eben Britton
Offensive Tackle
Arizona
It’s no secret that the Vikings need a right tackle and that they covet Eben Britton. Brad Childress may want to Draft someone who could help him save his job, like say a Percy Harvin or Darrius Heyward-Bey, but I think he’ll make the right choice in the end.
23
NE Patriots
Clay Matthews
OLB
USC
The Patriots need to add a couple of linebackers, so why not pick someone who projects either inside or outside. Clay Matthews is another player who really beefed up his Draft status this past year.
24
Atlanta Falcons
Peria Jerry
Defensive Tackle
Ole Miss
With the recent trade for Tony Gonzalez, tight end will no longer be a need for the Falcons. Now they can focus on their defensive line. They passed on Glenn Dorsey last year and still need to add a franchise defensive tackle.
25
Miami Dolphins
Darius Butler
Cornerback
Connecticut
Vontae Davis is still on the board, but he doesn’t really seem like a Bill Parcells type of player. I’m not convinced he has the best attitude/work ethic. Darius Butler actually played some offense for the Connecticut Huskies, a trait that has to be particularly intriguing for a team that utilizes the Wildcat offense.
26
Baltimore Ravens
D. Heyward-Bey
Wide Receiver
Maryland
Darrius Heyward-Bey might be too good for the Ravens to pass up here. He would give Joe Flacco a legitimate option in the passing game. There have been rumors of him going to the Raiders at #7, so getting him this late would be a steal.
27
Indianapolis Colts
Evander Hood
Defensive Tackle
Missouri
The Colts need an upgrade at defensive tackle, so Evander Hood or Peria Jerry would make a lot of sense here. If both are gone, they may target a wide receiver. They love to give Peyton Manning weapons to throw to.
28
Buffalo Bills
Brandon Pettigrew
Tight End
Oklahoma State
From Panthers, through Eagles
The Bills luck out due to the Falcons trade for Tony Gonzalez. Now they won’t have to worry about them taking Brandon Pettigrew ahead of them at #24. It looks like they may have a clear shot at adding the talented tight end with this selection.
29
New York Giants
Donald Brown
Running Back
Connecticut
The Giants desperately need a wide receiver, but they can probably get a pretty good one with their next pick at #45. None of the top three running backs will be available at that selection.
30
Tennessee Titans
Vontae Davis
Cornerback
Illinois
The Titans might be weary of adding another cornerback with a bit of an attitude problem, but Vontae Davis is projected by some as the top cornerback in the class and would be great value this late in round one.
