Due to the recent departure of Jason Peters, the Bills will likely target an offensive tackle early on in the Draft. Oher might be a bit of a reach at 11, but tackles seem to go higher and higher every year. Oher was once considered perhaps the top player in the Draft.
12
Denver Broncos
BJ Raji
Defensive Tackle
Boston College
The Broncos are likely hoping that one of either BJ Raji or Tyson Jackson falls to them at #12. Either player would be a valuable piece for their new 3-4 defense. Raji could start immediately at nose tackle. If both are gone, look for them to target a rush outside linebacker like Aaron Maybin or Robert Ayers.
13
Wash. Redskins
Aaron Maybin
Defensive End
Penn State
Jason Taylor was a huge bust for the Redskins and a huge waste of a second round pick. They still need to find some pass rushers. Aaron Maybin is very raw, but has loads of potential as a defensive end.
14
New Orleans Saints
Chris Wells
Running Back
Ohio State
I don’t necessarily think that running back would be a smart pick for the Saints, as they have needs elsewhere, but if Malcolm Jenkins is off the board it’s a real possibility. With Deuce McAllister no longer on the team, the Saints could use another big running back. Reggie Bush won’t run between the tackles, but Beanie might.
15
Houston Texans
Brian Cushing
OLB
USC
Brian Cushing would start day one for the Texans at outside linebacker right next to DeMeco Ryans. The Texans may be a good candidate to trade down with this pick. Teams may be looking to jump ahead of the Jets, Broncos, and Buccaneers for Josh Freeman.
16
San Diego Chargers
Rey Maualuga
Inside Linebacker
USC
Drafting Rey Maualuga would give the Chargers a tremendous leader in the middle of their defense. They may have signed Kevin Burnett this offseason, but I don’t think that will deter them from taking Rey here.
17
New York Jets
Jeremy Maclin
Wide Receiver
Missouri
The Jets could go with a number of different skill position players at this slot. Quarterback, running back, and wide receiver are all legitimate options. If they don’t succeed in trading up for Mark Sanchez, they may go after the best player available at one of those positions. Maclin looks to be just that all the way at #17.
18
Denver Broncos
Robert Ayers
Defensive End
Tennessee
From Chicago
Robert Ayers has risen in Draft boards like crazy over the past month and in fact, could end up going in the top 15. The Broncos need to add a rush linebacker at some point during the first day of the Draft, and with Ayers and Everette Brown still on the board, this is a good spot to do so.
19
Tampa Bay Bucs
Josh Freeman
Quarterback
Kansas State
Despite the fact that the Buccaneers signed Byron Leftwich, I still think they’ll go after Josh Freeman. New coach Raheem Morris is familiar with him from his days at Kansas State and he could learn behind Leftwich for a couple years before taking over. I don’t think he’s a guy that’s ready to step in from day one anyway.
20
Detroit Lions
William Beatty
Offensive Tackle
Connecticut
From Dallas
There are some more talented players on the board, but the Lions need to add a franchise left tackle to protect Matt Stafford, assuming they select him. It’s not a fun pick, but a pick that definitely has to be made. A young quarterback won’t have much success if he’s running for his life every play.
